The audio is loud enough to hear without needing headphones. (But my son doesn't seem bothered by it).
I wouldn't spend a lot of money on this. Lastly, the picture will freeze up sometimes.
I got this super cheap at Target (i.e., $7.50). Also because the device is see-through, the movement of the disk moving right next the screen is a little visually distracting.
but if you can get it cheap I would recommend it. It seems cool enough.
The picture is a little grainy.
They should definetly not be man handling this toy though. I made video photo albums set to music & downloaded short star wars clips too. That made it great for several differnt age ranges.
I bought it again for him this year because he LOVED it soooo much. It's a computer software set and for 5.00 you can personalize your own pvd's for this player. I bought this toy last year for my four year old & he broke it pretty quick.
I downloaded music & video's from itunes & made my own discs. It doesn't hold up well to toddlers. The Cd's are alittle hard to come by but, here's a tip for you.
You can go online and google the video now media wizard.
I like it because I can see the CD spinning. I like my videonow because I can watch Scooby-Doo in the car. I like it because I can watch a different cartoon than my sister is watching.
The other bad thing is the power usage is inefficient seeming, batteries wear out quickly.Ok for what it is. Also the device is inexpensive, as are the discs.The bad thing is that the PVD format is proprietary, so the discs aren't compatible with anything else. Bought this for my 8 year old son. The good thing is the device is a reasonably cheap way to keep him entertained on a long car ride.
I'm not thrilled with the quality - if they all work the way the second one we opened work, then it's a great (hopefully more sturdy) alternative to a standard portable DVD player. We tried a different brand of batteries to see if that made a difference. It's Christmas morning. Thank GOODNESS we bought two identical VideoNows for our two boys, as one of them keeps freezing, if it plays the picture it is all snowy.
